// About the SKPS-611

A regulated supply built for reflex klystron benches.

The SKPS-611 is the power supply that drives a reflex klystron — the microwave source used in X-band (8.2–12.4 GHz) teaching and research benches. It delivers a continuously variable, electronically regulated beam voltage of 195–400 V (up to 45 mA) and a repeller voltage of −10 to −300 V DC, the two supplies a reflex klystron such as the 2K25 needs to oscillate and be tuned through its modes.

Built-in square-wave and saw-tooth generators provide internal amplitude and frequency modulation, so a full set of standard experiments — klystron mode study, electronic tuning, VSWR, frequency and wavelength measurement — runs from this one unit without external instruments. It runs on 230 V ±10%, 50 Hz mains and is manufactured by Narayan Microwave Technologies in Modinagar, dispatched across India with a GST invoice.

// Background

What is a klystron power supply?

A klystron power supply provides the two regulated voltages a reflex klystron needs: a positive beam (cavity) voltage that accelerates the electron beam, and a negative repeller voltage that reflects it back to sustain oscillation. Varying the repeller voltage sweeps the klystron through its oscillation modes, while the built-in modulator lets the output be square-wave or saw-tooth modulated for measurement. Because the tube only oscillates within precise voltage windows, the supply must be well regulated and low-ripple — which is exactly what the SKPS-611 is designed to deliver for X-band bench work.

// FAQ

Klystron power supply — questions.

Is the SKPS-611 klystron power supply compatible with the 2K25 reflex klystron?

Yes. The SKPS-611 is built to power reflex klystron tubes such as the 2K25. It supplies a regulated beam voltage of 195–400 V and a repeller (reflector) voltage of −10 to −300 V DC — the ranges a 2K25 needs for X-band operation on a microwave bench.

What beam and repeller voltages does the SKPS-611 provide?

Beam voltage is continuously variable from 195 to 400 V at up to 45 mA, and the repeller voltage is variable from −10 to −300 V DC. Both are electronically regulated against ±10% mains variation for stable klystron operation.

What modulation does the klystron power supply support?

It has built-in square-wave and saw-tooth generators for amplitude and frequency modulation of the klystron, so you can run standard X-band bench experiments — mode study, VSWR and frequency measurement — without any external modulator.

Can I use the SKPS-611 with a Gunn oscillator?

No. A Gunn diode needs a low-voltage supply, not klystron beam and repeller voltages. For Gunn sources use our GS-611 Gunn Power Supply. The SKPS-611 is specifically for reflex klystron tubes.

Do you ship across India and provide a GST invoice?

Yes. Narayan Microwave Technologies manufactures the SKPS-611 in Modinagar and dispatches it pan-India with a GST invoice. It is in stock and ready to quote.
